Malaysia International Scholarship 2025 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the MIS 2025–2026, applicants must meet the following:

  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible MIS 2025 countries (listed below)
  •  Apply for a full-time postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Malaysia
  • Age limits:
  1. Master’s: Under 40 years
  2. PhD: Under 45 years
    • Hold strong academic credentials:
  3. Master’s: Minimum CGPA 3.0 or 2nd Class Upper
  4. PhD: Minimum CGPA 3.0 or equivalent at Master’s level
    • Demonstrate English proficiency:
  5. IELTS ≥ 6.0, or
  6. TOEFL (PBT) ≥ 550, or
  7. Degree(s) taught in English
  • Submit a research proposal (1,000+ words) for research-based programs

  • ASEAN countries: such as Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia. Also, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar. Apart from that, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam are also included
  • Commonwealth countries: Regions in Africa, Asia, Australia, the British Isles & Mediterranean, Canada, the Caribbean, the Americas & the Atlantic, India, and the Pacific
  • Other countries: Afghanistan, Libya, Albania, Morocco, Algeria, Palestine, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Bahrain, Russia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Senegal, China, Serbia, Egypt, South Korea, Georgia, Sudan, Hong Kong, Syria. Some more countries are Hungary, Tajikistan, Iran, Timor-Leste, Iraq, Tunisia and Japan as well as Turkiye, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan
