General Eligibility
To qualify for the UQ Graduate School Scholarships (UQGSS) 2025, applicants must:
- Be nominated by a UQ enrolling school or research institute
- Meet the admission conditions for UQ’s Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program
- Not be receiving a living allowance award greater than 75% of the RTP Scholarship stipend

PhD Entry Requirements
To apply for a PhD at the University of Queensland (UQ), you must:
- Have completed research experience
- Hold an approved university degree in a relevant field
- Meet UQ’s English language requirements available on the official website
Approved Degrees for PhD Admission
- Master of Philosophy (or a research master’s degree)
- Bachelor’s degree (Honours Class IIA or equivalent)
- Coursework master’s degree (with a GPA of 5.65 on a 7-point UQ scale and research experience)
- Postgraduate degree (minimum one year full-time) with GPA of 5 and research experience
- Bachelor’s degree plus two years of relevant research experience
