UC San Diego does not offer financial support for ISRP. Students should check with their home universities for potential scholarships or funding options.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the ISRP 2025, students must:

  • Be enrolled at a UC San Diego partner university
  • Be nominated by their home university
  • Be able to attend the entire program (June 29 – August 30, 2025)
  • Meet the English language requirements:
  1. TOEFL (iBT: 83, Paper-based: 550)
  2. IELTS (Minimum: 7.0)
  3. Duolingo English Test (DET: 115)

All disciplines and academic levels are welcome to apply!

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents in English:

  • Valid passport (preferred) or national ID
  • Unofficial academic transcript
  • You need to attach a letter of recommendation from a professor at your home university
  • Resume/CV (maximum 2 pages)
  • Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or DET)

Short essays answering the following questions:

  • Why do you want to participate in ISRP?
  • Describe your past research experience and how it will contribute to your summer at UC San Diego.
  • What are your research interests, and why do they matter to you?

Application Process – How to Apply?

Follow these steps to apply for the UC San Diego ISRP 2025:

  1. Nomination by Home University
  • Interested students must first be nominated by their home institution.
  • Being nominated does not guarantee acceptance into ISRP.

2. Application Submission

  • Once nominated, students will receive an email invitation with the application link.
  •  You must complete the online application and then upload the needed documents.

3. Selection & Acceptance

  • UC San Diego’s Selection Committee will review the applications.
  • Selected students will receive an acceptance email with visa instructions and program details.
