Applicants may need to demonstrate Chinese or English proficiency according to their chosen course. If you earned your previous degree at a Chinese university through Chinese-medium instruction, you do not need to submit an HSK certificate.
How to Complete Both Applications for Beijing Foreign Studies University CSC Scholarship 2027
BFSU requires applicants to use two online systems. However, you cannot begin with the CSC application alone. You must first apply through the BFSU International Student Service System and obtain a Pre-admission Notice.
The university application deadline is 31 January 2027 (Beijing time). Prepare your signed Student Affirmations, notarised degree certificates or pre-graduation certificate, academic transcripts, passport information page and relevant language certificates. You must also provide a personal statement, two recommendation letters from associate professors or above, and a CV of more than 800 words.
Your research proposal must exceed 1,500 words for a Master’s application or 3,000 words for a PhD application. A Foreigner Physical Examination Record and non-criminal record report are also required. Documents originally issued in languages other than Chinese or English need notarised translations.
If you are currently studying at a Chinese institution, additional documents may be required, including residence and enrolment records, transfer or withdrawal documents, recommendations and transcripts, as applicable.
Once BFSU issues your Pre-admission Notice, proceed to the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System. The CSC application period is 5 January to 28 February 2027 (Beijing time). Select Type B, enter agency number 10030, and choose the Doctoral or Master’s programme category.
